Manipulability is a quantitative measurement of ability of a robot to produce motion or manipulate/interact with the environment. Depending on the posture, a robot might be unable to produce enough velocity in certain directions. Manipulability, defines a relationship between robot configuration (joint positions) and its ability of motion in different directions.
